What is TNR?

Otherwise known as Trap, Neuter & Return.  Essentially, cats are trapped, sterilized, and given rabies vaccinations before being returned to their home (which is the location where they were trapped).

Facts About Feral Cats

  • Female cats in heat will attract male cats from a wide radius
  • Female cats can get pregnant as early as 5 months of age.  They can get pregnant while they are nursing and can have a new litter every 2-3 months!
  • The average litter size is 4-6 kittens
  • There are feral cats that need to be TNRed in your town right now - and some of them are probably even on your street!
  • There aren't nearly enough people to help to sterilize the feral cats in your area
  • There are cats being euthanized in Massachusetts today because there aren't enough homes for all of the cats that need them.
  • We need more help to combat cat overpopulation

What can you do to help?

You can alert FACT, local no-kill shelters and other cat trappers when you see cats in your neighborhood that you suspect could be homeless.  You can raise awareness about TNR.  You can donate funds or raise money to be used for TNR surgeries.  You can foster and/or socialize kittens so they can be adopted and will not have to live a lifetime trying to survive outdoors.
